These techniques are based on understanding how to deal with an incoming kick to your body. After a student understands the concepts behind deflecting a direct kick to their center, they can begin to vary the kick to a side kick, hitch kick, round house kick.
The take down maneuvers employed in these techniques can be dangerous if the uke does not understand how to fall with the throw, so Shihan advises extreme care in training.
These techniques are not recommended for the beginner student, however the basics are important to understand relative to deflection!
