Japanese Kickboxing Learning the Art of Fighting by Tai Terada
Tai Terada is the founder of Maji Art of Fight gym in Eindhoven and a European K-1 Champion, widely respected for his deep technical understanding of modern Kickboxing and his ability to teach it clearly to fighters and coaches around the world.
In this unique full-length instructional, Terada presents a complete introduction to the modern Japanese Kickboxing system—a style that has become one of the most effective and fast-evolving approaches in elite striking competition today.
Popularised by fighters such as Takeru Segawa and Yuki Yoza, Japanese Kickboxing blends elements of Kyokushin karate, Dutch-style combinations and modern fight tactics into a highly aggressive, timing-based system built for real competition.
Tai, alongside his brother Takumi, grew up in Kobayashi, Japan. Their daily life from being young was one of rigorous martial arts training in the hard style of Kyokushin Karate under their father.
This background eventually led to Tai moving into kickboxing. After competing briefly in Japan as kickboxer, he made the decision to travel West and move to the Netherlands in order to train with some of the world’s leading Dutch fighters at that time. He then went onto becoming a European K-1 champion with an unbeaten professional record.
His love moved from fighting to coaching, and this saw him retire at an early age from active competition so that he could concentrate on training others in the Japanese style so favoured by him and his brother.
He is close to the likes of ONE Championship über talent Yuki Yoza and world renowned Team Vasileus coach Masakazu Watanabe, and regularly trains with them and his brother when they visit him for fight camps.
A Modern Striking System Built for Real Fights
This is not traditional kickboxing.
Japanese Kickboxing is defined by:
Constant pressure and sharp entries
Devastating calf kicks and unorthodox low kicks
Unique kicking mechanics rarely seen in Western systems
Kyokushin-based punching and body attacks
Creative use of knees, spins and rhythm changes
In this volume, Terada breaks the system down in a way that makes it clear, structured and immediately applicable—whether you’re a kickboxer, Muay Thai fighter or MMA athlete.
