World Champions at Every Belt Level
Ashlee and Mia Funegra began training at AOJ Costa Mesa at seven years old. Over the years, they grew up together on the mats, winning all major titles in the juvenile and adult divisions before receiving their black belts from Professor Gui Mendes at the 2025 IBJJF World Championships.
After winning the brown belt light-featherweight division, Ashlee was promoted alongside Mia on the side of the mat. Just two days later, Mia competed in the black belt light-featherweight division and won the title, becoming the youngest IBJJF black belt World Champion in history at 19 years old.
Later that year (December 2025), Ashlee won the black belt IBJJF NOGI World Championship. She followed that achievement in 2026 by winning the black belt Gi World Championship in the light-featherweight division.
Beyond their competitive accomplishments, Ashlee and Mia have become role models for the next generation of girls and young athletes through their technical Jiu Jitsu, professionalism, and relatable personalities.
